THE PROCESS OF CASTING CLAY
In slip casting, a slurry of clay and water is poured into a porous mould, usually made of plaster. As the mould is rotated, the slurry coats the mould wall, and water is absorbed into the plaster, thereby drying the slurry closest to the wall. After some time, the mould is emptied of the excess slurry. We slip cast in small batches and hand decorate these items to give them a unique finish. |
